DBT can be a useful tool if you're not surrounded by narcissist people. I found myself trying to use the tools they gave me but trying to resolve an issue with a narcissist just put me back into depressed mode and isolated.

dbt can be done in group or individual sessions and one may work for you and the other not. it can also depend on your provider, if you have a shitty provider then you're not gonna get anywhere. generally the individual sessions go through a workbook with you. other supporting therapies including ones for other conditions you may have can also be done in individual sessions, which is a bonus to those. group sessions have the bonus of meeting others who are struggling with similar things to you and learning from them. if one doesn't work for you i recommend trying the other! it may feel a bit patronizing but if you can make it your own, it can be a really powerful tool ::]

I had a really bad experience with my DBT group which resulted in my being sent to a short term residential on the other side of the country and learning first hand how much the troubled teen industry sucks. I’ve found help in a similar way to Adelis but to me it has a spiritual basis. I’ve liked the shadow work prompts I’ve found a lot.

Honestly DBT groups did nothing for me. I used a couple workbooks I found in Amazon and they did so much better.

Yes, it's dumb, stupid, and a pain but I highly recommend the 6 month group version I did. It was online too so It helped with never leaving the house at that time
