Has your partner ever made you feel guilty for not engaging in sex/sexual activities before? It’s been a month and we usually don’t go that long without but my depression & ptsd is getting in the way of being intimate. I am trying to cater to his needs while also respecting mine but being a sexual abuse survivor, it can be hard sometimes. I can’t force myself to do something I don’t want to at the moment..is it me or does he need to be more empathetic to my situation?

Def needs to be more empathetic. I’m of the opinion that sex is a privilege not a right— and just bc you two are dating doesn’t mean he’s entitled to get it every time he wants it. Are you seeing a therapist rn? It might do you good, sex aside, to tend to your mental health if you aren’t already. I am sending you care and hope you find solace in your situation

I'd say he needs to be understanding, but that's just me. Sex is far from the most important aspect of the relationship.

i let myself be pressured into being more sexual than i was comfortable with for 2 years, and it probably would have gotten worse had i not gotten out of that relationship when i did. because of that, my issues with sex got even worse. your partner should be more empathetic. maybe if you can, it may help to have a conversation about what you are going through right now, and setting boundaries so that he doesnt continue making you feel guilty for tending to your own needs.
