So my husband told me he thinks I might be asexual and I’m having a hard time coming to terms with it. I’ve spent YEARS wondering why I am the way I am. But he’s right, and it makes sense. It feels right. Now I’m trying to cope with this new label because I denied it for so long. I used to think I was broken, I needed medication or something because I have no sex drive. I didn’t even think about being asexual. I have always wanted to know why I don’t care about sex, it makes me feel awful for my rd. I have no idea how to cope with this new information

From one Ace to another, you ABSOLUTELY aren’t broken. Sexuality is an incredibly complex topic, and society is really only just coming to terms (barely) with the concept of there being more options than being a straight sexually inclined person. Asexuality is also a spectrum in itself, whether you’re 100% sexually repulsed or you enjoy it in concept but not in practice, it just means most of the time you’d rather be doing something else. It’s also incredibly important to remember romantic attraction is a completely separate system in our body. To can be romantically straight, bi, whatever, and be asexual. There’s a label for nearly everything now, and there’s also the option to not label yourself at all if the idea of it is uncomfortable or you simply aren’t ready for that level of commitment yet. I’d recommend the sexuality.fandom website if you want to learn more about different sexualities and different variants of asexuality, but I’m also happy to have a chat if you have any questions for a fellow ace. ♡
