TW EDs and mention of calories I have struggled with eating disorders for around 5 years now and have recently properly invested in my recovery. I am now eating 1200 calories a day, which most medical places say is not really enough, but i feel so full eating that and definitely cannot eat any more, even when I want to. does this get better as I continue recovery?

Yes, the less you eat the more your metabolism slows the more you eat the more your metabolism speeds up, obviously within limitations and there are other aspects like genetics but it still has a pretty huge effect. This causes both, usually temporary, weight gain as well as a lack of appetite. When you're in a starvation situation, even slowly established and/or self inflicted, it can make you sick or even be dangerous to immediately go into a typically expected diet or to over eat in attempt to make up for being underweight. It is best to work slowly and to your bodies limitations to ease yourself into a larger healthier diet, during this time I found it helpful both in my physical health and in my mind set surrounding food to consider nutritional benefits instead of calories or other measurements. Instead of making sure my calorie intake went up I made sure there was carbs and the nutrients in my meals and snacks that I felt I was missing and then made it a point to learn how to make sure I am genuinely hungry and eat every time I am.

It does typically get easier over time.
