So I've got symptoms of depression of course, it being my current diagnosis and all, but I think I might have bipolar? My therapist believed it was PTSD but my symptoms don't fit the dsm and also like no other doctor believes it's that. My father had bipolar and I'm young but my mania like symptoms keep getting worse. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas. it's just kind of frustrating not being listened to.

Ptsd and bipolar do share some symptoms but definitely have distinct differences usually. If you're open to medication or life changes related to bipolar it may be a decent idea to give it a go, especially if your episodes are becoming really problematic for you. There are also ptsd therapies you could try, to see if it helps, especially since it's possible to have both. From my very unofficial understanding, ptsd doesn't have manic highs like bipolar (1 i think?i get them mixed up sometimes im sorry). My mom has childhood trauma and ptsd symptoms, but shes also diagnosed as bipolar as well.
