I had friends in HS and college but have lost touch with everyone. My “best friend” responds to a text maybe once every 3-5 months. I'm 30. My work friends are almost twice my age. The two people I talk to the most are my mom and my therapist of 15 years. Any tips on how to make friends my age while having severe social anxiety (amongst other things)?

Don't underestimate the value of having a tribe online. Look for fandoms for things you enjoy, games, movies, book series, whatever... You'll likely find like-minded people who have either been at or are where you are. I speak from experience! You don't have to worry about impression management or not having time to react appropriately via chats or message boards and that can grow into real friendships. I can say at 35 my two closest friends I've never actually met face to face and my husband I actually met online before pursuing an "irl" relationship. If nothing else, having people you can chat with without worrying about how you look or sound or smell can be good practice for irl. I wish you the best! 💕

@kitastrophe76 I guess even though I'm part of some type of community online, I never really thought about it that way. You're right you don't have to keep up appearances and that helps! Thanks for the insight!
