Internet is always great, but there are also meet-ups, classes you can take (wood-shop, painting, etc), and getting into a low effort sport like kickball or pickle ball league are all great ways! There are better friends to have- no need to stick around people who don’t know how awesome (I assume) you are

I was like that in high school. I only had like one or two friends, everyone else just kind of acted like I wasn't there. Social media was really what helped me to make more friends. I met my best friend on Snapchat

Instagram has helped me so so much, many people I have irl don’t support me in the ways I need so I completely get where you are coming from. But I have met so many people on there who have helped fill that void. I mostly met them through fandoms and such, so try and find people with mutual interests who you feel comfortable reaching out to!

Find somewhere to volunteer...? I've made some great friends at my volunteer gig

Best advice is be in an environment with ppl there but have something to do- hobby, work, workout/gym especially if there are classes, school. I find it less stressful to start a conversation that way and others typically start up conversations more. Fill your life with things that bring you to life rather than drain you. Easier said than done but it sounds like you’re at the point where something has got to change. What I’ve also realized is people’s definition of “friend” is also wildly different so it helps to talk about what it actually means to you and others you’re trying to build a relationship with. Either talk it out with them and try to work on it or start disconnecting and move on. Starting anything is scary and it may take a lot of trial and error but in the end it’s worth it to find truly good friends.

honestly just talking to ppl, it seems hard and scary at first but it really pays off, just complimenting someone can sometimes start a conversation.

@souljiaboy you’re right- i always get so nervous in public spaces and have an easier time meeting people through mutual friends >< i need to start reaching out to more people in person!

@Jules26 aaa ive always wanted to do a meet up but have been nervous recently with covid rates being high! i’m also not really sure if there are many meetups that happen in maryland but it’s worth a shot! thanks!
