I have bipolar and adhd and ptsd, and my partner doesn’t understand me one bit. I get so frustrated because I feel alone. I can’t talk to him about any of my problems he doesn’t get it no matter how much I try to explain, it always turns into an argument. What do I do?

My partner isn't great at understanding. But finding other people who can helps. https://discord.gg/fwGjpv3G Here are some people who will understand

I worry that you may be in an unhealthy/toxic relationship and it may be damaging to your mental health. I’ve been there and have had a partner who did not understand my mental health struggles one bit and in fact made them much worse. You may need to evaluate if this relationship really is something that is healthy for you to be in.

Hmm, I think it's more so worth asking are they willing to learn and try to support you with that? As partners, it's only fair to both of you to be there and care enough to try and learn what your partner is going through for the support alone. I don't want to jump to breaking things off, but it seems like you want them to know what's going on. If you feel like you can't explain it to them, other resources can! I think as long as they're trying and willing to learn outside of what you tell them, that should really help. I do feel for you about the arguing though, as long as you're just trying to explain, it's a shame it turns into that. Good luck!

@dayzed Ah, and you're never selfish for wanting to make your feelings/mental health known to someone you care about who is deeply in your life. 🖤 It's the trust you out into them alone to even speak on that, I'm proud of you!

Break up with them?? It sounds like your partner is very stubborn in the way that they won't change for the good or bad.

@SJL168 I feel like that’s unfair I feel like it’s selfish to make it a priority to understand me when I’m hard to understand yk? I love him and he treats me good I just can’t talk to him ab certain things cus he doesn’t get it he isn’t going through it

@Fairyblankets my partner was the same way at the beginning of our relationship, and i almost left because of it. but he took the time to try to understand me, and even when he doesn’t understand, he always respects it. and you also deserve someone who puts in the work to understand you, and always always respects you.

@Fairyblankets i don’t necessarily agree that you should break up with them. but you absolutely can and SHOULD make it a priority for him to understand you. i have BPD, PTSD, and ADHD so i’m also very hard to understand. but you should NOT be with someone who doesn’t make it a priority to understand you.
