So sometimes I have to take sleeping pills really late at night so I don’t have to wake up in like 4 hours smh but earlier I fell asleep at 11 and woke up at 1am and I knew that was going to happen I didn’t meant to sleep yet I was just a bit tired and now I know I won’t be able to sleep till I take that medication and when things like this happen my depression kicks in I start overthinking and probably cry because waking up like this makes me feel so damn lonely idk what to do , my mom uses cigarettes to calm her nerves I been think if I should try them but idk

Don't smoke nicotine it worses your anxiety and depression. I have quit smoking 2 weeks now and I'm still having anxiety from not smoking but that's normal. If you start smoking it is extremely hard to stop. Nicotine is an addictive substance. These past two weeks have been the hardest of my life. Nicotine was my ran away too but I do have to say that ever since I quit I have noticed a change with my depression. Yes I still have hard days. But I noticed those days are way less harder to get through without the nicotine. And just because you may have depression does mean that smoking will numb that pain. It's like *tw* SH you inflicting pain onto yourself because of something you cant control won't fix the issue. It's like a bandaid eventually you will have to rip it off and feel all the pain again so it's much easier to not numb the pain and instead work through it.

I have had trouble sleeping my entire life because of my anxiety, so I had to change a lot of things to make it better. I now have a set bedtime routine that starts after I take my melatonin. I dim the lights, play rain sounds, and get ready for bed. When I am feeling down, I try to do things that I know will make me feel better in the long run. Like getting 10-30 minutes of sunshine, doing a 15-30 minute workout, playing video games with my friends, or calling up a loved one.
