Struggling with PTSD and Memory Loss: Any Tips?

What seems to help memory loss/forgetfulness with PTSD? I also have ADHD and since the event that caused my PTSD my “brain function” seems to just be way worse. I’m in therapy once a week and I know it takes time but it has been so frustrating to continually have memory lapses along with the hyper vigilance.

EMDR has helped me a lot. Keeping a calendar too.

The sticky note idea is helpful! If I may ask, what kinds of questions do you ask your therapist that have given you helpful feedback?

- Thankfully, I have a therapist who is able to speak from her own story and things that have helped her. However, the main thing we do is start with my main issues at the time. I tend to make problems more complicated than needed, so it's important that we start from the top and work our way down. So, we take a big problem and break it down into smaller issues until we reach the simplest solution. I was so frantic about the forgetfulness, that I allowed it to consume me and lost sight of how important something as small as a sticky note could be.

I am slowly starting EMDR but I’ve only had a couple therapy sessions with it incorporated so far. What is TMS?

transcranial magnetic stimulation, it improved my depression and brain fog by about 80%. It’s stimulating a part of your brain to combat severe depression. My insurance covered it because I’ve tried over 18 meds and I had treatment resistant depression and PTSD

I, too, greatly struggle with memory loss. It's something I've been working on with my therapist for some time. I keep whiteboards and sticky notes all over the house, as well as using my phone to track things. Always keep a pen and paper or your phone on you. The second you hear that you need to do something, jot it down. That's been the best method for me.
