I just had a severe panic attack and I have never ever had it like this. It happened in my Uber on my way to school this morning and I seriously thought I was having a heart attack. My chest was so tight and in severe pain and my right side of my chest was burning and I had trouble breathing and felt very nauseous. I was debating whether I should tell the driver to take me to the hospital or not. I ended up going to the school nurse and she told me to rest for two days. Now I’m in the counseling office waiting to be seen in an hour. Idk how I’m going to rest when I have so much school work to do and I’m just a mess right now. What do you guys usually do for panic attacks and have you ever had one this bad?

@FaerieBefriender wow I’m so sorry that happened to you, and I’m working on resting more and taking care of myself

Panic attacks are so awful and all consuming! I'm sorry you are going through this. My very best advice is to; 1st immediately email your professors and ask for extentions on certain assignments due to a personal health emergency (which is exactly what this is- your body telling you to rest NOW). 2nd ask for help from the student health center to find a therapist to help. This step is an absolute must. Not only will they connect you with someone who can help you manage what is going on, it will either be free or very affordable. 3rd. Be kind to yourself. Listen to your body and rest.

@milkdudsnotdrugs thank you for this, I took today to rest and the school gave me a great therapist who I will see weekly 💕

I was told to immediately drive an hour to class, but then again the nursing department in college has never been known to be particularly empathetic. In that case I just had to keep moving forward, so I didn't really give myself time to process or recover. I would very much suggest taking some time off to center yourself properly before you start back up again with school and other everyday stressors.

I had a bad one on the grayhound because I got suck for 2 hours and got stuck on the Cleveland Ohio for 2 days then I went home. What I did was that I need comfort so I had my Mario blanket and my pacifier

Oh my gosh babe I am so sorry! I would probably find it a little annoying that I’m waiting in the office for an hour rn tho. I’m sure if the nurse told you to take 2 days off, then the teachers should understand that!
