I have never gotten one while purging, but when I was deep in my ed around April last year, I was having heavy, consistent nose bleeds. I have no idea what causes it either tbh

The force of vomiting created very high intrathoracic (inside abdomen) pressure and tgat caused some blood vessels to burst. This is not necessarily dangerous, but it can become dangerous. If it was little blood vessels near the front of your nose, it will cause a nosebleed that eventually stops. If you burst the big blood vessels that are higher up, it can cause severe bleeding that needs medical attention. Because you say it was the first time in a long time, and the bleeding stopped on its own, I wouldn't worry too much. But if this starts to happen consistently it can become worse... like a nosebleed that doesn't stop or even bleeding into your eyeballs (I had the eyeball one years ago, NOT fun at all)

this is super helpful info, thank you. I spoke to my therapist today and do not want to fall back into this behavior, but it was shocking - I’ve had streaks
