I genuinely hate myself and that's how I developed an ed. I hated myself so much I thought I didn't deserve anything, not even food or water. please I need some advice, I want to get better but in the same way I dont want to get better and I do not know what to do. I want to have the want to get better if that makes any sense.

For me, I recovered with the help of a friend, whod remind me that food is fuel, and that it's important to fuel my body. Finding self worth again can be really difficult, and ironically one thing that helped me was cooking. I'd try a new recipe, I'd look for smth easy to make, eat it, and maybe share it with a friend or parent, and enjoying smth that I made and seeing others enjoy it, really make me feel more confident. Now it doesn't have to be food, it could be anything that lets you do or make something that will help boost your self worth. I know a lot of libraries have free classes or little clubs for art, or book clubs, and sometimes there's classes on different topics, and it also might help to go do something like that. Trying new things and exploring will really help you get out of a negative thought pattern. And if you have a friend you can confide in, or someone who's recovered here on this app to talk to, the little encouragement from someone who believes in you really helps. My dms are open if you need a friend to help you recover. You deserve health and strength and happiness

I completely understand this. But I promise you will never regret recovery when you are recovered. Recovered doesnt mean weight restored ,if that’s part of what you need to do as not everyone whit anorexia is underweight, recovered mean living a life free of thoughts about food and exercise and weight. You deserve recovery and you don’t need permission from anyone to start. You can do it no matter what anorexia is telling you. That part of your brain is very poorly and is creeping more and more onto the side of your brain that still thinks rationally and loves the small things in life like sunsets, enjoying hobbies again, being able to concentrate, family and friends. Recovery is so much better than being in the depths of anorexia. It is important to seek help, or if you want to do it on your own you must know that it is important to avoid refeeding syndrome(please read about it) but also that it is completely okay to recover on your own accord. You’ve got so much ahead x

Sometimes the best thing you can do is try to compare yourself. Would you think these things about a homeless person you saw on the street, or a little girl you saw on a playground? No, because they are people and you recognize that regardless of whatever they say or do they are still human beings. You are a person. That much we can at least agree on. I know it can be hard to feel like you deserve anything. But the first step is recognizing that you don't have to be a good person, an attractive person, etc to deserve basic needs.
