Does anyone else have problems saying no? or hearing no? I'm not sure if it'd BPD or PTSD.

A lot of people have problems with the word no, and it’s not necessarily a function of illness of any kind. My guess is that if you say yes to yourself about certain things, inner child type things, like giving yourself permission to play, spending time baking oatmeal cookies or something like that, hanging out with a good friend who will indulge you to a certain degree, and also setting and enforcing good strong boundaries, those things should help

✋ It has gotten me in trouble several times because I don't know when to firmly say no, especially to those I am close to.

I don't have a support system. I am in thearpy but they don't know either issue. I was 53 , last year, before I heard the term splitting. Been doing it forever but had no idea why.

It could be both, BPD causes us to be wired for reassurance and comfort, saying no sounds like us rejecting comfort. People with BPD need to feel wanted, by almost anyone or anything that will have us. PTSD could be if the situation was caused by you saying no to someone and then the trauma(s) happened.

@Dolly_Bunn thank you. It's been so frustrating wondering why I keep doing things.

@Jacinda If you have a support system, it does get easier. I had to learn by myself for quite a while before having support, you are never alone though!
