Obsessing Over Partner's Past Relationships

I get obsessed with the thought that my partner might not be the right person for me and it cripples me.

I have obsessions related to relationship OCD on and off (in a relationship for almost 2 years now), and in those moments I just try to reinforce the relationship I have and prove to myself (as best as possible, of course) that my partner has no intentions of cheating because we've built a positive, trusting environment together.

It’s called relationship OCD.

I still have thoughts like this, occasionally… but I’ve come to a point where I am comfortable and accepting with the fact that there were people before me, and that’s ok and normal. Once I accepted these thoughts, the unpleasant intrusive thoughts eventually faded away.

I used to in the beginning of our relationship. The good news is I eventually stopped doing this, once I became more confident in our relationship (and myself) and we are now married.

Depends, are you diagnosed with OCD? If you aren’t, then I’d just say this is fairly normal. Everyone gets weird intrusive thoughts and yes, they can be distressing. As long as you’re not engaging in daily, time consuming compulsions, then it’s probably not OCD and just regular intrusive thoughts. On the other hand, If you DO have diagnosed OCD, then absolutely. Relationship OCD is a very common theme. Most people who have OCD will develop it when they get into a relationship. It just comes with having the disorder. You gain different themes in different areas of your life. OCD attacks your moral compass and makes you feel like a bad person.
