I’ve never seen anyone talk about the struggle of bad mental health like depression and self harm struggles while having an autoimmune disease, when I’m low I have this whole new self harm impulse of wanting to try and trigger a flare up which could be really dangerous and also depression and stress generally can trigger flares anyway

sometimes i get so tired of my stomach pain and nausea that i Want to say "fuck it" and eat everything i can find even if it causes pain. most of the time i don't give in though because of just the thought of waiting and getting better. being stressed about your illness is common but it's also insanely counterproductive, obviously this isn't on purpose but it sucks how the mind and body work together to mess you up (even while trying to protect you). it's good to remind yourself to take it easy and that you have your own struggles & that you're strong. stay safe!!

  @MilkJoey thank you, for me it’s a bit different because I’ll never get better my disease is incurable I have lupus and for me triggering flares would be not taking my meds or exercising when I shouldn’t etc and can put me in organ failure so it feels so risky having this responsibility for my health when I suffer with depression

    @Igglepiggle you might not get better, but you can work with what you got. i believe that you have the strength to keep pushing on and that you'll make great decisions. depression isn't easy, but you're already kicking ass. making it this far in life, especially with chronic illness and pain, is something most people couldn't even fathom. don't be too hard on yourself and trust your limits. take care c:
