I'm trying to figure out where to even start. I've lived with agoraphobia for a long time before I was diagnosed, but I feel like living with it and management of it aren't the same. I guess my question is, where did you start? What seems to work best for you to manage it?

Some people have found success in starting small and not overexposing themselves. This could mean beginning with walks around your home, then gradually expanding to the block, then perhaps to a gas station or pharmacy. The goal is to stay until feelings of unease leave and you start to feel safe and comfortable. Others have found that setting a goal of going somewhere easy once a week, then maybe twice a week, and so on, can help. Gradually going places that are easy will tell your brain that you can go out and not have a panic attack. Some people also find wearing layers, beanies, masks, or sunglasses helpful as it makes them feel more comfortable and less noticeable when they're outside.
