I did these advanced tests because I saw a lipidologist, otherwise known as a lipid specialist. He recommended doing the tests to get a better idea of what was going on. they can see a lot more than the basic lipid panel. My primary doctor referred me to a lipid specialist because i’m so young to have such high cholesterol and she wasn’t sure how to treat it so she wanted a 2nd opinion. I know lipid specialists aren’t very common and are hard to come by
