Does anyone know the long term outlook for people with fibro? I'm sure it's not great

Yeah, it's mostly just not giving up. Maintenance is always easier than fixing something, and that goes for fibro stuff too.

Thank you all for all the advice is sounds like what I thought. I take gabapentin too and it helps me a lot, like giving life back help. I'm lucky that my meds help so much that I don't have to mess with my diet yet. It seems like everything is just about hope right now
The long term outlook is very individualized, but my understanding is that unless we find a cure we just have to keep trying to keep our symptoms under control as we age and build up tolerances to any prescriptions we're on. It's not a death sentence, but you do have to make changes to minimize the impact that it has on you. I have found a combination of prescription meds and lifestyle shifts that have it where I am able to live life well. I still feel every cold front that comes through and have to be aware of my limits, but some of that seems to be just getting older. I can't eat junk food or be sedentary without feeling awful, but I also get pretty immediate feedback for when I do something that my body does like. I recently started a kickboxing class and walk 3-5miles most days with my husband. But I started by just going on short walks to get my body moving and yoga to stretch out my problem areas. I realized that dairy triggers an inflammation response for me and cut it out, and started to pay attention to how much sugar I was eating. At this point I'm trying to make the changes that will allow me to stay on as low of a dose of my meds as long as possible, since I caught my fibro young, hopefully have a lot of time ahead of me, and don't want to reach the point where I'm at the maximum dose of gabapentin and need more.
I only take Tylenol, get lots of rest, use hemp oil and cbd oil on all my aches and pains. Eating healthy and exercising can help.
If you find a lifestyle that works best for then I’ve known people who had close to no pain and lived what they deemed a great life. It’s a struggle finding the medication and/or non medication options that work best for you but life can improve! You don’t need to be cured to have a full life but I do wish you many pain free/low pain days as possible ❤️
