Frustrated with Chronic Pain Treatment

I am so frustrated! Why in the world can’t someone who has a chronic pain condition get pain medication? I have been dealing with Fibro since 2005 and since have developed lower back pain and arthritis in my knees and hips. It is affecting my daily life now to the point now that I don’t feel like doing anything. I am under treatment for depression, anxiety, and insomnia but none of this helps the pain! I have tried Cymbalta, Savella, Gabapentin, and am currently on a low dose of Lyrica d/t weight loss and it was making me loopy. I am going to start acupuncture but I am skeptical. Am I supposed to suffer the rest of my life? I am only 47 and I still have things I want to accomplish!

Narcotic pain medication will only help in the short run and Fibromyalgia is a long run condition. I used to be on a high dose Fentanyl patch and took hydrocodone. Over time, people build up a tolerance to pain medicine. Taking too much pain medicine can cause tolerance to happen quicker and your chronic pain may actually get worse.

Percocet works. It gives me a lot of relief. It doesn't take all my pain away. But I also have other pain issues. But as far as the fibromyliga goes, it does help.

Have you tried low dose naltrexone? Game changer.

I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah, most of my stuff just help enough to get me through, but I choose to go a more natural route.

Girl, I'm in the same boat. When I take my lyrica, go to acupuncture, take celeocib, and then I drink amino acids to help with the lubrication between joints
