(TW: SA and s3x) Is it normal to not feel anything *down there* after a traumatic event? I was SA'd a few nights ago, and tonight, I decided I wanted to reclaim my body, so I tried to have a little "me time." However, it just felt numb and didn't feel good at all. It honestly just made me feel sad when I tried. It wasn't injured during the SA encounter, so I'm assuming it has to do with a mental aspect? Has anyone else experienced this and have advice?

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy can help along with certain injections into muscles down there to relax it. Talk to a gyno :)

This definitely is a common stress response to trauma, professional help would probably be a good idea if possible but you can attempt to reclaim your body more slowly and from a less directly sexual approach like a haircut or any other minor physical alteration that you've always wanted/thought about to make you feel more in control before moving on to a more sexual method. Make sure to pace yourself and listen to your body and your brain!

Based on the shared experiences in the context, it seems that some individuals have reported a loss of sensation or difficulty experiencing pleasure after traumatic events, including sexual assault. This could potentially be linked to emotional and psychological responses to trauma. However, this is not a universal experience and can vary greatly from person to person. It's recommended to seek professional help if you're struggling with these issues.
