No relationship is perfect, but I’m confused if I’ve been selfish or truly neglected for the last 10 years. I feel hurt, but if I bring it up partner gets defensive then I lose my temper and end up always feeling guilty.

@Joe2008 Sadly I know exactly what that's like. Like you said, every relationship is different, but for me things never got better. I stuck around for years but the same old issues would come up again and again. If you feel that there's a chance that you'll be happy and be treated well with this person in the future, then I think trying out some couples therapy could be worth a shot if that's what you want to do. For me, it built up until it was too late and too much damage was done. It went up to the point where I was able to actually acknowledge that it had grown into abuse. I obviously am no expert and can't really give you direct advice at all, but I'm happy to share my experiences and what I've learned from them, if at all helpful

I think that if you're having feelings of neglect or mistreatment in any way, those feelings are valid to bring up to your partner. Or, if you don't feel comfortable speaking with them about it, you could always talk through some of your feelings with a professional. Do you go to therapy?

@HocusPocus I’ve brought these things up constantly for years and he ignores them. Says he’ll change for the better every time but never does. I go to therapy and I’ve finally convinced him to see a couples therapist but I’m so damaged already
