so here's something that's been on my mind. I regularly use fiction of all kinds as escapism to help me calm myself and not lose my mind. I have all kinds of comfort books, shows, movies, video games, and stuff like dnd. I'm not addicted to any of these I think, I mean I still get all my important life stuff done. but I've been wondering how healthy it really is to use these things as a mental health crutch or at what point it becomes a problem. any thoughts?

Anxiety (Including GAD)

Everyone has something they enjoy doing and a big part of controlling anxiety is keeping your mind distracted so you don’t start focusing on a small twinge on the back of your hand that sends you spiraling into a endless abyss of anxiety. Anyways I don’t think it’s necessarily “unhealthy” as long as you’re keeping it under control and are able to tend to your responsibilities and the like. It’s perfectly ok to use a book or a game as something to relax and distract yourself with because sometimes especially with anxiety we just need a break. It seems to me that you’re doing just fine by tending to your responsibilities and living your life while still enjoying games and such. Hope this helps. ^^

@Waffle1 thanks for posting! I'm always interested in how other people think about coping methods like this
