Does anyone else feel the need to create distractions to take your attention off the negative feelings? I need to basically overwhelm myself with activities and work to avoid the feeling of emptiness. Is this healthy?

No!! This is not healthy. Distracting yourself is a coping mechanism, yes. But if you find existence so empty or intolerable that you need to be distracted constantly, especially if its pushing you to overwork yourself, that is not healthy. Productivity is not more valuable than your health. I would suggest looking into some mindfulness and distress tolerance (DBT) exercises. Perhaps some grounding meditations. If it is uncomfortable to slow down, maybe that is precisely what you need to do? That's usually my case, anyway.

I do this in a bad way....I disconnect with everything and everyone around me :(

I do sometimes. My wife needs to remind me to slow down with doing things. I do too much then it physically bothers me. I try to distract myself all the time.

I suppose it really depends on the root of the negative feelings you're avoiding, but slowing down to check in with yourself is always a good practice
@BambiStar thank you for the suggestions. I will look into that more ❤️
Very healthy keep being productive ❤️
