I'm awaiting my EDS diagnosis, but in the mean time have applied to stay in on campus accommodation of my next year of uni. I have asked for an upgrade as my current flat does not meet my disability needs. the accommodation and accessibility team have lied to me saying the type of flat I have asked for does not exist, despite me knowing of at least one other student who rent that type from them. they are being really difficult, how can I best advocate for my disability and my needs without coming across as rude or outright accessing them of discrimination and not doing their job properly?

One way to advocate for your needs is by getting in contact with your university's disability office and see what paperwork is needed to receive accommodations. Communicating with that office and your professors will be the most important thing because they can't help you if you don't tell them in advance, and many of them do want to help you. Having accommodations has saved many students' college careers and without them, some would've dropped out. It's also recommended to go through the proper HR channels if needed, they might want a doctor's note validating your diagnosis and/or need. Whatever your jobs' process is just follow the steps and they should be able to offer accommodations that will help you effectively and safely.
