Dark subject: How do ya’ll deal with SH urges? I don’t have any suicidal ideation—I don’t wanna die. I just have urges to cut again and I don’t want to go back to that. How do I deal with it without having to tell my psychiatrist?

throw away anything that might harm you, lay down on your bed/sit on your desk and start scribbling una piece of paper:) that has saved me many times! also putting headphones and having a sing along to your favorite songs

So, when I have an urge to SH, I put on a song that I know will calm me down. And one that I know the lyrics too so I can sing along! Also drinking something you like, or even get a tattoo! :)

take a hot (not too hot) shower and focus on how water feels on your skin instead of how pain feels, wrap yourself real tight in a blanket with some music until it feels more manageable, remind yourself of the sick feeling of the aftermath, throw away or hide any sharp objects, go for a walk and talk yourself through why you feel that way, hope any of these helped - Alex

tearing up paper is one of my favourites - gets out the urge to destroy but not harmful
@mazapan I agree 10000%!! Remove everything, get your favorite hoodie or blanket, some deep breathing activities and coloring/scribbles or even something more time consuming like painting. You got this!
