So, my abuser has started to change now that they have a new family, and I'm glad the kids in that family will never have to go through what I did, but I can't help but be resentful to the fact that my abuser had the capability of treating me well and is using that ability to build someone else up without realizing or caring what they did to me. How do I move on knowing that they will never feel remorse over or take responsibility for the suffering I went through and still am facing side effects of?

Ah. Different ties create different feelings. You may get a different reaction in a same type of relationship simply because they view you different. It isn't fair to you. I don't know how to help you

Did the relationship you had start out well? You may be seeing the beginning of the same pattern.

@Lill No it's a familial relationship
Hmmm, my first thought is ...if they are not treating the others that way now, maybe they realized how bad they were treating you? How to go on? Therapy, karma/God/something does seem to equal things out in the end. (My brother would be classified as a psychopath and I fully expect him to end up on the news at some point).
