I recently (last week) was hospitalized for a pretty serious bout of sepsis caused by a central line infection of my port. Everything was treated and addressed correctly. I am still on daily intravenous daptomycin to help make sure everything clears up appropriately. I believe I have post-sepsis syndrome (PSS) due to some ongoing symptoms and I’m hoping to get some insight and help as to how to deal with it. I am normally relatively active due to my job requirements but this has completely wiped me out physically and I’m not sure how I’ll be able to handle returning to work in a couple of weeks. I plan to see a physical therapist for some general rehabilitation as well as planning to see my psychiatrist for evaluation of my mental health and medications to see if there’s anything that we can do to help with my mental symptoms. Does anyone have any other suggestions or recommendations for how to address PSS or go about returning to normal life after a bout of severe sepsis? I’m just so overwhelmed and exhausted!
