Bipolar is present in pretty much all of my immediate family, and one of my brothers as well as my father have had such bad manic episodes that they were put on so many meds that they almost seem like zombies. Seeing this in them terrifies me, I feel like they'll never be in a "normal", happy, healthy mood again, and I'm so afraid of this happening to me.

I'm sorry about that. The only advice I can give from BP2 perspective is to be patient, and aware of their needs. We are not always fully aware of everything that we say or do during an episode and it can sometimes be hard for them to differentiate what is them and what is BP2. I literally just had a blow out with my fiancée to the point where she tried to yank me away from the door and it threw me off so bad that I almost put my hands on and beat her to a pulp. It took everything in me not to punch her and I have never been an abusive or physical person. I feel like crap, and it's taken a huge toll on my mental health
