Are there any coping techniques for bulimia? What are some good anxiety coping mechanisms?

As someone who is in recovery after actively purging for 10+ years, when i need to eat, do so because extended hunger will trigger a binge episode when i do eat. Try not to get to the point of feeling “stuffed.” Pace myself while eating by socializing, mindfully eating, etc. Portioning helps a lot. And most importantly, if I feel the urge to purge I distract myself. I personally need an accountabilibuddy for that. We watch tv, play games, chat. In the chance I do end up purging, I rinse my mouth out with baking soda and water, since it soaks up the acid. Brushing teeth spreads it all around the mouth which leads to cavities, sensitive teeth and decay.

For doctor visits get on scale backwards and tell the doctor/nurse to not read the number outloud

Chewing gum, suckling on candies, water (u can flavor it), brush your teeth after relapse episodes as the taste will only make you want to continue, fidget toys, teas, forgiveness for yourself, reminders that it's an addiction and just like one shit hits the fan and relapses happen

i have some for anxiety, i recommend always trying to get out of a situation that is making you anxious but if you can’t than you need something to distract yourself. if you focus on your current anxiety rising than it won’t stop. maybe a comb to fiddle with for texture or a type of fidget
