Is there a way to help my binge eating disorder without getting help from my psychologist?

While I do think that it is important to seek professional help, I have found that chewing gum or an altoid helps. If you really feel like you need to *eat* something, I like frozen corn or just eating ice chips. That especially gives you the feeling of eating without actually binging.

I would definitely still talk to someone about it, just to get the issue off your chest. But for me, the best things that help are keeping my hands busy or chewing gum! That way you either wouldn’t want to get your hands dirty and you have just the constant chewing motion, but not worrying about what you’re eating.

I think the best thing is to talk to a professional. I have tried everything I can think of to stop bingeing and nothing works. Next time I meet with my therapist, we are going to talk about it and start working through why. Good luck

Find a hobby to take place when your hungry or munchie! I used to run on the treadmill and eventually your body decides instead of wanting to eat, it wants to run. Of course you can pick another healthy hobby like making art, cleaning, self-care, etc.

Try staying out of/away from the kitchen so your not tempted, distract yourself with something fun like a game or YouTube. I find I eat more when I'm bored or next to the kitchen.

Try setting healthy goals for yourself. Like not eating past 9pm. That's what mine told me
