So I'm on here trying to find ANY HELP WITH PAIN MANAGEMENT of my back (i have bone spurs & arthritis throughout it) that does NOT USE NARCOTICS. (i also have cronic low kidney function & diverticulitis throughout the colon) Any help/ ideas 💡 🙏 would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I wish you all healthy lives. ❤️🫂

Chronic Generalized pain
Hey! Just saw this! My doctor put me on a med called Meloxicam (Mobic), 15mg tab. It's an NSAID but it isn't a narcotic or opioid. It's been helping immensely with my chronic low back pain due to osteoarthritis, would recommend talking to your doctor about it as it's available only as a prescription
👍 I'm currently on that med & Duloxetine 30mg (sp?). I also am on Gabapentin (300mg/quid). Great advice, THANK YOU SO MUCH 😊
You're welcome, glad I could offer some insight! Mine's paired with Cyclobenzaprine 5mg to help me sleep, and man does it do wonders for keeping me asleep!
Well I held off on taking Tramadol as long as I could. I do take it now. It helps but it doesn’t knock it out completely by any means plus I have pain from a number of different conditions so I’m never not in pain. I am also been on Gabapentin. It helps a lot, especially for the fibromyalgia pain and other nerve pain and it’s not a narcotic. I just had CoVid for three weeks and during that time I wasn’t really taking my meds and didn’t need it so I didn’t take it. I had a little “withdrawal” symptoms like restless legs and so I would just take one and it would go away and I only had to do that two or three times so I was happy about it because I really wanted to see if I could get off it as it’s one of the meds that can contribute to causing Alzheimer’s. But as I got better from CoVid and started moving around and cleaning and taking care of everyone else again the pain was bad and the Tramadol wasn’t taking care of it enough. I finally took one Gabapentin to see if it helped that excess pain and it did and I was able to do more so I guess I’ll continue taking it. It’s that or suffer and not be able to function enough.
I take a Flexeril at bedtime for my neck. I can’t take OTC meds like Ibuprofen etc because I took so much of those things over the entire time of my adult life since a teen that I had Barrett’s Disease in my early 40s. That’s another reason I had to try Tramadol.
So when I need more pain relief I use Diclofenac Gel (it’s OTC too called Voltaren) (but I get a script for mine so I don’t have to pay $10-20 a tube). I use a menagerie of things. Essential oils. Epsom salt when I can take a bath but that’s rare. I also use Magnesium Oil Spray. If you have dry hands or any little cuts etc it will sting. It doesn’t bother me but sometimes plastic gloves help.
There’s probably other things I can’t think of right now. But when I had CoVid I bought supplements and one was Quercetin & Bromelain and bromelain helps with pain. You can probably buy just Bromelain without the other ingredient. I’m not sure how much you need to take to feel relief by using it. I’m sure you could research it. I would like to take more of it to see if it could help my pain levels but I can’t afford more supplements right now. Maybe in the future when our finances improve. My prescriptions are covered but natural products (healthy methods of pain mngmnt) are not. (Should be the other way around!)
Oh! And I’m taking collagen. It’s definitely helping - at very least with my hair! I list a lot of hair in ten years, and it was still falling out and very thing around the sides. It’s not falling out like crazy anymore and it looks like my sides are filling in. But I take the kind that has Type IV, V & VI. I buy it at iHerb.com and it’s called Natures Plus. Shipping is free with a $20 order which one canister is so it’s a great deal!
Hope you find something or a combo of things that will help you.
🤗 Thank you so much for all this great advice & meds i can probably take to help. I ❤️💯 HERBAL/NATUROPATH MEDICINES. I hope you continue to feel the pain relief you have been able to. My problem with most OTC's is they aren't touching a thing. I'm old-ish (46, soon 47! 😂🤏🏻😬) & have a body that is turning against me. I have to take 3 ibuprofen (200mg/each), i was taking 2 (200mg/each), 3 or 4x/day. Killing my kidneys in the process! So i have limited things i can take, but also i have to be lucid enough to drive & work and NOT FALL ASLEEP. I don't get enough sleep because of my pain most nights (4 of 7/wkly). I get about 3 or 4hrs/nightly. And i come home around 4:30-6p & fall into bed. I'm exhausted from work and lack of sleep & my anxiety & my back pain & hip STIFFNESS (arthritis? 🤔😬🥺) as well as back stiffness nowadays. Find out why this summer, had a lumbar x-ray & MRI. It's due to the vertebrae not being aligned; think of a bunch of blocks w/ THIN sponges in between them = ■|■|■|■|■|■|■|.
My back = |°|•|•|○|°|• (basically, misaligned but NOT SCOLIOSIS 😬🥺🤯💩)
