Has anyone ever looked into the Dr. Kevin Smith Sinus Migraine Institute in Houston, Texas? I came across an article this morning and it seems promising but I know there are so many people out there trying to sell a cure for migraine. I've been to so many doctors and they've found a deviated septum, and a cyst in my maxillary sinus. The doctors say this couldn't be causing my migraines, but I've always questioned that. I'm looking to see if anyone has found success or investigated and found he can't really help! Thanks!

@OtterB ive had many more migraines when i go into surgery with a migraine (enough that i was happy for the next surgery). Now i always fill up on Imitrex the day before surgery, up until the munute that im not allowed to take anything.

I have had my migraines blamed on sinuses plenty. I actually had a full sinus surgery 2 years ago and have ironically had more problems since then.

@OtterB good to know! Thank you! I've had ENTs, neurologists, and allergists dismiss my sinus problems as a factor in my pain.

Are you interested in him because he’s local or because of his specialty?

@ScientistInPain ok so this may seem like a weird suggestion, but I recommend Dr Aurelio Alonso with Duke (if you’re willing to travel all the way to Texas, I’d assume NC is also manageable?). my neurologist recommended him as “the next step”. He’s a board certified pain specialist and keeps trying to get me to try all these different treatment methods (but I’m super afraid of needles so I haven’t yet 😂). BUT one even goes in your nose to deliver the treatment. I can’t remember but it sounds like that may help you if you haven’t already tried that! I tried to find the same thing online and I think it’s called ganglion block?
