i did some emdr therapy and it was extremely exhausting, it's really intense but honestly can really help you work through awful and difficult memories or emotions. you kinda have to work your way up to it, i recommend starting with therapy, getting comfortable talking to your therapist, and then if they think continuing to emdr therapy would be helpful for you, then go for it

I had a pretty nice experience with EMDR. a few sessions were triggering and emotionally exhausting but most went smoothly because your therapist will give YOU the option to talk about your bad memories or concerns from trauma. You never have to say them out loud.

What is the pte-EMDR therapy called? I've been going through EMDR and it's been hitting me hard, bit I also know it's working so I don't wanna stop. Just maybe need some extra help

Flash75 I am doing a very new type of therapy that helps prepare my brain for the EMDR part (just the results I've experienced from the prep-therapy have exceeded my expectations) which is coming up in january or next month. I would REALLY love to hear how/in what ways it changed/ impacted your life if you wouldn't mind sharing. I just want to find the trauma-free me

The best therapist won’t make you talk about it at all you just have to think about it in your head and do what they say. I like the pendulum swinging therapist the best EMDR. I had to read whether the memory was better or worse on a scale of 1 to 5 around the time I felt I was going to fall asleep she would say how are you feeling. I did less than two months of EMDR every week and it was the best thing that ever happened to me until my next episode of PTSD which I’m going to go and get EMDR again. I hope it works like the last time. I won’t have the same therapist because she passed away.

I've done it before, it kinda did what my counselor wanted it to, but not at the same time. It was hard for me to do but it helped out a little bit.

My therapist told me many good things about it, but one thing you have to know is that part of it is re-experiencing your trauma, so I suggest starting with some classic therapy.

It triggered me big time, but helped just as much

Supposed to start soon, curious to hear from someone that has done it what it is actually like

A little bit I'm not sure what it did for me but my therapist said she thinks the topics we worked on are less triggering for me. I however am not very self aware in general. It wasn't bad though.
