I struggle severely with PTSD directly related to an experience I had with being sexual assaulted. Im soon gonna start EMDR therapy and am a little nervous. Have any of you done EMDR, or have any “tips” ig?

      I’d say for sure go into it with an open mind, that will help you let down your walls easier and the EMDR will feel more natural.

      EMDR is something I’m just starting, and it’s helping me recognize triggers from my trauma in September of 2021 that I hadn’t encountered or validated within myself. It’s really fulfilling and hasn’t been super triggering so far.

      EMDR is super hard for me, but I find it helpful. My best advice is trust the process and trust that your body will respond how it’s supposed to, don’t try to force anything, just let things come up naturally.

      Just started EMDR as well! It can be really hard, but it is helping. I make sure I have a cup of tea and fidgets nearby to help distract me, and I go for walks after, usually

      I did emdr for a while. It was difficult but helpful. Be gentle with yourself & give yourself grace on the days you have your appts

      Yes it’s helped me and I’m still in therapy . Just remember even though it seems scary your doing the right thing. Hugs

      It helped me. But it can bring up a lot of emotions and triggers. Make sure you have a support system and emergency plan in place, and avoid high anxiety activities after and before sessions 💕
