Struggling with Anxiety and Dermatillomania

I hope one day we don't feel ashamed because it honestly sucks. It's honestly so annoying it's like you want that nice clear skin but can't help yourself then the healing process starts all over again.

I am also 21 and suffering with dermatillomania. I don’t know anyone who knows about this condition and no one ever talks about it. We deserve help like any other condition. We all feel shamed but we shouldn’t! It’s a serious thing we’re trying to live with.

yes! my mom was always very shameful and still is so i completely understand!! she always said that it was just a bad habit and never has taken it seriously :(! it sucks but thank u for making me feel less alone :)

I’m also 21 and have the same issue! Mostly with picking my nails. Most of my life people would chide me for it because they thought it was a “bad habit” and my mom still does, but it’s so comforting to know I’m not the only one dealing with it and that it’s not a habit but a real disorder !
