i went to the roller rink with my partner about a week ago because we love to skate. we’ve been there before and it was sensory friendly for me. however this time they had a rapid flashing strobe that was effecting me really bad. my partner decided it was worth a shot to go and ask if they could turn off that particular light. the dj said they’d have to turn off all the lights on the floor to do that, which is fine, we would have just left. but then he asked if there was a problem and my partner explained about my epilepsy and he said “they (i) probably shouldnt go to a roller rink ever then”. i cant stop thinking about it because theres so many things i enjoy that i cant do because of this. i love colors and fun lights but i cant be around it anymore. it sucks so bad and the ableism is so normalized.

1- I love roller skating and since I was diagnosed with epilepsy it's been hard for me to do things like that too. 2- The DJ needs to learn not to be a dick and respect people with disabilities 3- I am so sorry that happened to you. I understand how you feel.
