Has anyone used Propranolol for anxiety? What is your experience and side effects? My psychiatrist just prescribed me it, but I don’t know anything about it. She just gave me a brief explanation of it.

@Floof96 okay perfect! If you have no side effects and it helps then you should be good! :)

Turns out I had low blood pressure which makes sense because I have POTS and I was given this for anxiety and it was awful so I would recommend checking your blood pressure before taking just to make sure it doesn’t lower it too much! ❤️

@Zoey_Val I only take it maybe once a day and haven’t felt dizzy or anything. Tomorrow I’m going to my doc and will see if my blood pressure is low

I take it to keep my heart rate down, but it also helps with my anxiety! If your anxiety mostly manifests physically then it might be a good match, and if it doesn't then side effects are unlikely. I'm personally a huge fan and take it before class and at night to quiet my body and mind

I didn't find it useful personally as the effects were short-lived. It lasted around 3hours or so at a time for me whereas I needed something that would last across the day. I think the short half life makes it good for anxiety over specific situations though, for some people from what I've heard.

@lulalalu Oh, but I didn't have any side effects on it!

I've been on propranolol for my heart and migraines not anxiety. I'm no longer on it due to it lowering my blood pressure to much.

@Jasmine81120 it’s only as needed, do you think it would be a problem? Does it make you sleepy or anything?
