Anyone else have a difficult time connecting with past versions of themselves? Like past achievements and mindsets feel as though it was almost someone else? As if the present you can barely imagine being actively involved in those successes.

I’ve never been able to put this into words before but yes! I also kinda feel like I’m not very involved in my present day successes though if that makes sense? Like I’m just constantly putting out fires and every day is just survival in a way so maybe I’m not really living in the moment or consciously working towards goals. So in the future I’ll have that same feeling about what I’m doing right now.

I used too!. I was diagnosed with depression at 40 and u never realized I was depressed. I just did what I had to do to survive. Was a mom at 16 two kids by 18. Went through years of drug addiction. It wasn't until I went into recovery that I realized my drugs of choice were because of my moods and then i wS diagnosed with add, depression, bipolar, anxiety and ptsd.

Omg yes, major depressions, hypomania, anxiety, irritableness they all heavily impact the person who arrived that day. And after time passes and I’m in a different state, I look back and think “why did I do that” “who was that” “how did I do that” I feel you!
@kindpolarbear this makes sense too! My sophomore year of college i was the most depressed I have ever been in my entire life, and when I look back on it, it’s like it was a different person! I just can’t believe I was ever living like that or thinking/ doing those things even just a year ago. The worse part is that my university is pretty small so people recognize each other from year to year and it’s so embarrassing to know that a lot of people have that impression of me 🫣
