Does anyone have a hard time living in the now? I’m almost always thinking about the future and either freaking out because I don’t know what I’m doing or feeling bad because I feel bad everyone else my age. I freak out every day about making the right decisions. I think about failing because my imposter syndrome is bad. Or I’m thinking about the past. Thinking about things I’ve done wrong, regret, should’ve done differently, said. I have flashbacks all the time. I pretty much only live in the present at work or brief moments in the day. Therapy and medicine has not been working as well anymore after a few years. I’m at a lost and feel like I’m failing

definitely, but i have a dissociative disorder. i do worry in the same way though, either overwhelmed with regret for my past actions or getting so wrapped up in conversations and potential scenarios in my head that i sometimes have a hard time telling them from reality. my partner lives in the present and says they learned to do it intentionally. i think grounding exercises might help you? it helps you focus on what's around you instead of what's worrying you. they're not for me so i don't have specific recommendations but you can find plenty of them on google if you look. hope this helps ::]

I relate to the feelings your describing associated with being present; it can be difficult at times to want to be in this body. For me, I’ve found that EMDR therapy has been quite helpful at getting to the root of some of those feelings and thoughts that are distressing me constantly. The way our bodies hold onto trauma can make it hard to operate in the world because of pain—either emotional or physical, or both. But we can learn to work through that pain and find more moments of peace once we work with someone to re-frame some of those negative ideas we hold onto. It’s perfectly natural to have a lower period in your journey of healing, please be kind to yourself during this time. You’re not failing, and your problems are valid! And keep sharing what’s in your head, just to get it out of there, so you can focus on moments of peace as well.

Yep, all the time. It doesn't help that my POTS causes hypoxia that especially likes my left frontal lobe.

Don't have a problem living in the now personally, but i do believe today's world is vastly interior to the 90s..... everything nowadays is so sterile, and lacks personality. i know it's hard, but don't beat yourself up over what could have been, ball that shit up and make a three pointer for the trash and move on,life is complicated enough.
