Are there any suggestions for braces and joint help? Especially my hands and wrists hurt but braces restrict mobility and prevent me from working. A physical therapist told me that braces can weaken some muscles and make pain worse. How do y’all feel about that? Braces lessen my pain but I don’t want to cause long term effects. Any tips or tricks?

Walmart has my favorite compression gloves for hand and wrist pain. They don’t restrict my movement, they just hold me together, and they have support between but not up the fingers which I prefer: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Equate-Multi-Purpose-Compression-Glove-S-M/194821774?fulfillmentIntent=In-store if you want even more flexibility, you could cut off the Velcro part and use it as a separate support piece. Since it’s light support there’s also less risk of it leading to degeneration

I have used KT tape for years. If you aren’t carful it can weaken your joints even more in the long run but I had a wonderful physical therapist who helped me strengthen the muscle around the joint as well.

I really like KT tape. it is not as restrictive as braces and doesn't cause muscle degradation but still helps to support and work with the muscles, tendons, and fluids in the joints

I also use KT tape because braces make me want to throw chairs, especially when I'm doing art and really need wrist movement lol.

I highly recommend KT tape when a brace isn't an option.

This stuff is what I live off of when I have bad flare ups. I tape up my knees, shoulders, fingers, I still haven’t figured out a good way to tape my hip…

Look for less expensive tape at Walmart or Amazon. There is some at my Walmart for $5 a roll vs $20.

I will do hot and cold. I don’t wear my braces consistently but occasionally when my pain gets really bad. I will also use KT tape occasionally when I don’t want to use a brace. It’s not as stable as a brace but it does give some support and nice compression.

I use heating packs as well for pain, as well as an electric blanket. I've used kt tape before instead of braces, but yes it you use it too much you weaken your muscles, which are pretty much the only thing holding some of us together lol. I can't use my hands for long though, and haven't found much to help with them. I've tried different cbd creams and some have helped a little but not much
