having many days lately where I really feel I can't take it anymore, feel alone, have no interest in anything, self-isolating, crying a lot and often crying myself to sleep, the things that used to help a bit at least for a short time don't now

I find when my depression kicks in I'm in a downward spiral.. the best advice I can give is be open with your clinician, as well as medication treatment. If you are currently on a anti depressant.. sometimes you have to switch it up because your body gets too used to one.. for example, myself, I take citalopram/ Celexa now... and in 3 to for years I have to switch back to venlafaxine/ Effexor. I just bounce between the two every couple years. The other piece of advice is push yourself to be busy and / or find a task that you can work at and feel accomplished at the end of the day. Like help neighbors (elderly) with odd jobs or volunteer at something. It will build you back up. The hard part is pushing yourself to get started. I wish well, I can relate to your feelings for sure.

Crocheting is comforting to me as well. I find that when I count stitches my mind doesn't wander on things that make me anxious. I hope it works for you.

@cherrye thank you. My late maternal grandma taught me to knit a bit as a kid, she had to start it for me. Only did it on and off, the same started one for a couple years. I found myself a couple weeks ago looking up videos how to do it, maybe time to pick it back up
