I stopped taking lamotrigine a month ago and never told my doctor. I told them that I thought I was having an allergic reaction and how I couldn’t get it down. I tried to schedule an earlier appointment but no one got back to me so I’m not entirely at fault here. it’s been nice not taking anything. my moods are shit and I have my checkup on Tuesday. I’m thinking about canceling it though. I just started new medication for my dizziness and I know she’s going to try to prescribe me an antidepressant and I can’t be on those. they make me feel tired and I have low mood. does anyone ever delay their appointments or are y’all fine with not taking a mood stabilizer? I just don’t want to go through new medication all over again

I actually got put on fluexotine and I think I have more depression. I feel more irritated and anger more than anything. I’m bipolar 2. I feel like lamotrigine helped in the first two months but after that, I kept having problems

Yeah. It was a god send when I first started on it, but after a while it wasn't strong enough to stave off the depression so then I started taking bupropion on top of the lamotrigine for the depression. If your main issue is depression and not mania you may want to ask your doctor about bupropion aka Wellbutrin. The only side effect I remember was that it wasn't super helpful for my IBS, but that's not bad compared to side effects for most anti-depressants. Are you bipolar 1 or 2?
I got tired of checking to see if I was having a rash. I changed to extended release and the pill was bigger so I couldn’t swallow it. I’m honestly glad I’m not on it anymore. I feel like it worked half the time but definitely increased my migraines.
I quit taking my lamotrigine too. I was having a lot of side effects.
