Hi, I'm Hazze. I struggle with BPD, PTSD, and anxiety.

I have anxiety meds for when I feel myself kind of spiraling out of control, I also have regular check-ins with my therapist and my doctors so we can see the trajectory of my mood patterns. Keeping a mood tracker and a food diary, and also a journal has been helpful in pinning down the causes of my mood swings. I surround myself with patient and supportive people, and I communicate regularly with them about how I’m doing. We know it doesn’t take as much to make me feel bad, so we kind of prepare ahead of time for the stormy moods if that makes any sense- like a emergency preparedness plan for suicidal ideation and a plan for an emotional meltdown… and also we use optimistic language when talking about my moods. We acknowledge that they can be bad in the present, but we have skills and tools to handle them. There’s always a choice in how we express ourselves. And I try to choose well in how I react. Sometimes that means putting off a reaction until I’m in a better place to handle it. But do, get around to it. Bottling up feelings never really solves them. Only adds pressure to them being eventually released. So I try to find small ways to release anxiety and frustration a little bit, daily, so I don’t have such a huge pile if you know what I mean 😅

How do you both cope with the constant, unexpected, and irregular mood swings that come with our diagnosis'?
