does anyone with bpd know how to help mood swings, I'm undiagnosed but pretty sure I have it, and I'm going through an angry and depression stage right now where I want to mess up my life. I've been masking and not telling anyone how I feel because I'm scared ill upset someone. how can I push past this part without making someone upset with me?

I have bipolar and am managed well on meds but yes, therapy is integral to being able to manage it. Have you spoken with your prescriber about diagnoses? My psychiatrist has always been the one to manage my dxes. Also, I don't know if there's testing necessarily, just sort of a dx based on symptoms. Also, I've recently been put into surgical menopause and the hormones we are trying are messing with me a lot. So, what I do is think about any decision that could be life altering before I say anything. I tend to go full blow up the world when I'm dealing with bipolar symptoms. Currently trying not to blow up my marriage... I know logically that I love my husband v much and I'm happy with our life but my brain is all BURN IT DOWN. Rather than telling him I want to run off and be a hermit in the woods, I tell him I'm really struggling so any ideas about running away are chemically based and not bc I really want to do it. Helps if you let at least one person in so you can say, hey, I might go off the rails.

@Magpie42 I had surgically induced menopause too and I completely flipped out. I'm medicated and have a therapist but it was so bad that the police were at my house twice one day because I was out of control. I'm 55 and have never in my life had any trouble with police or anything like that. Once I got on estrogen I was back to my "normal " crazy. I was diagnosed with bipolar first but the worst thing is ptsd. No control and I'm nasty if triggered. I don't even recognize myself anymore now. I used to be nice and loved being around people but now I stay home alone almost all the time because I'm so scared I'll freak out. It's tough with my hubby too. He tries but he doesn't understand so I don't share much.

@canoli I'm pretty young and may not understand that very much, but I do understand the ptsd, isolation, and feeling scared to say anything. For me it can be the simplest thing and I'll flip out. But the amount of times I got yelled at and in trouble for flipping out has caused me to shut down and not say anything, and when I get in an argument with someone and shut down, they ask why I don't say anything which causes a bigger fight because they dont understand when I try to explain. I'm sorry you have to go through this, and it may not feel like it, but there are definitely people who understand.

@Magpie42 thank you. I appreciate it. I'll try to let someone know, I'm just scared they will get mad because of how people have reacted in the past

See a psychiatrist AND a therapist preferably. Bipolar isn’t something to mess around with. Personally i don’t know any bipolar people who are successful at managing without medication. If you want more advice or just someone to talk to, message me 💜

@DitsyDiabetic thank you sm! I would really like to get medicine and talk to someone about bpd, because I haven't been fully diagnosed and don't want to self diagnose either, but it's hard to find someone who actually listens and acknowledges what I'm saying
