I’m so stressed. I need a new job because it’s such a toxic work environment and I’ve been with this job for two years and I’m also sad because I did love it at points but things happened that made it toxic. I’m a hard worker and I’m always taken advantage of for it and also I’m just honestly falling apart physically and mentally. I need to leave but I also can’t afford to because I’m paying off student loans while also paying for school as I’m taking it. I’m not taking enough classes to pause my loan but I can’t because I need to work as much as I am or I can’t afford to go to school at all. I make a decent amount because I’m a good worker and have gotten raises but it’s just a good amount for a part time job. I also like need a job that’ll give me hours and I’m so nervous about switching because the risk of it all and I’m also scared because my current job has a toxic way of pulling you back in when you’re trying to leave.

It's much harder to leave if you don't know whether you even want to. If you do then put in your two weeks and everytime they try to get you to stay just look them in the eyes and say "you don't deserve me as an employee if all you're gonna do is take advantage of me. I'm sorry if this makes things harder for you but it's better for me, mentally and physically if I just leave." Toxicity will never end if they don't care about their employees.

@PlatoLogic12 sure thing! I'm in management and it makes me so upset hearing that people are going through things I went through. No job is worth feeling like you're worthless or stuck. You chose to work there, so you get to choose when you are done. If they keep trying to get you to stay hold your ground. The only thing that is worth staying for is them actually seeing their workers as human not cattle.

I relate to so much of this post. Have you considered getting a job on campus? You can meet with your counselor/advisor and ask them what your options might be! They want you to succeed so they’ll try to help you out as much as they can. Also, do you qualify for any student aid or Pell grants? They can help you brainstorm ways to save money on school costs as well so you can feel less stressed about finances.
