I was diagnosed a few years ago in college and thought maybe I would find someone my age who also has MS but I haven’t met a single person in real life who is also diagnosed, which feels kinda lonely because my other friends can’t completely relate or understand. Anyone also struggling with this?

I totally agree. I was 22 had just graduated college when diagnosed (now 23). I’m just now getting to the point where I’d like to accept where I’m at with my health and get involved with similar people in my area, but I always feel like I’m in a totally different stage of life than the groups in my area for people with MS! (Hence why I’m on this app to hopefully find others in a similar situation 🙂)

I was 23 yrs when i was diagnosed I’m now 57. My looks have actually weathered well for me, probably not being able to stand the heat. To this day if I’m not walking you would never know I had MS or the symptoms I differ. Trust me, it’s not people fault it’s such a hard thing to describe it’s not possible. Find an MS buddy, a support group. I always wanted to see a place where people like me can help mentor new MS’s. If I think back I wish I had a me, it was a scary time.
I am now 44 years old. I was going to College, pregnant with my first child, scared to death, so I moved back home.

I am currently 34 and was diagnosed at age 25. I only know one other person with MS and she is about 10 years older than me but she was a life saver when I was first diagnosed. Since then, I have met many younger people around my age living with different types of autoimmune disorders, so that has helped as well because we have a lot of the same experiences

diagnosed last year. it's super hard to find people around my age who have MS. most people i talk to have so much more experience because they're older. it's nice to hear from people who have been doing this for a long time though.

You remind me of myself when I was diagnosed! I was 28 years old and I was completely overwhelmed by that. I never heard about it.. Now I know that the average age for diagnosis in MS is anywhere from 20 to 40 years old.

I was diagnosed with MS when I was 19, almost 20. I am now almost 31, but I totally understand what you're going through. Even at 31 it's still difficult finding people my age that are dealing with MS.

Yeah it’s difficult when you’re younger (not sure I still qualify as younger at 34, but even then most people I encounter are 10+ years older minimum) it’s really helpful to connect with people your age who deal with similar things.
I just got diagnosed so I can’t say I’ve experienced this yet, but it’s definitely something I’m nervous about. I might look into a support group locally to hopefully meet some people my age. Have you tried a support group around you?
