Struggling with Identity

I've been struggling with not recognizing myself in the mirror for a while, and it's gotten rather persistent lately. I've also been having trouble identifying with my name- even though I chose it myself and I'm usually pretty adamant about it's use. Is this a BPD symptom, or something else?

      I have derealization/depersonalization episodes from past trauma that get worse when my depression and/or gender dysphoria get bad. It sounds a lot like that.

      that's good to know! I've been going through the process of diagnosis for BPD with my therapist, but we hardly touched on that symptom and so I was worried that my symptoms may be more severe than what's "typical" for BPD. I'll probably bring it up in my next session 💖

        @Jackalopez It's honestly my main symptom, tho it comes and goes in waves for how much it happens. My other main symptom is how my emotions and escalate so quickly, but they also can be resolved instantly in a matter of seconds if its addressed and taken care of. For me, these two symptoms of the dissociation and emotions are my main and "typical" two, and I've been learning how to cope and try to work around it. Defo bring it up next session hun, hmu if you want any tips (i do not guarantee theyre good but they work for me lol)💕

      That's how it started for me, and I ended up getting diagnosed with BPD. It took a while tho, they kept trying to tell me it wa body dismorphia and I am and was certain its not like that
