A threatened abortion refers to a condition in which there is vaginal bleeding in the first 20 weeks of pregnancy. It could present with or without abdominal cramping. Bleeding and abdominal pain may indicate a possible abortion. Vaginal bleeding occurs among 30 percent of pregnant women and half of those who it happen to, will not exprience an abortion but a full term pregnancy.
