Tactile hallucinations

Tactile hallucinations refers to a symptom which is characterized by a false sensation of touch or perception of movement on the skin or inside the body. It may include feelings of bugs crawling over the body, shifting organs or even nice sensations. It may be caused due to conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, phantom limb syndrome, alcohol withdrawal, and narcolepsy. Also, it can be caused due to medications such as anti-parkinson treatment, antidepressants, stimulants, beta blockers, and antiepileptic drugs. Treatment for tactile hallucinations may include antipsychotics, or quitting the use of medications causing it.
